Dear Skiers:
Looking forward to the winter storm? Want to support your local ski club financially and/or as a volunteer? Please visit our membership page!
If you haven’t skied at the Elks Club, head over there and experience the incredible work of the new snow machine and grooming equipment that your donation purchased last year. THANK YOU for that!
ORN has been figuring out how to ensure that Central Vermont has local, quality cross-country skiing since the closing of Morse Farm Ski Center. With the generosity of landowners, volunteers, and a partnership with Montpelier Parks, we are off to a good start. To continue this work, we are asking skiers to renew their memberships (if you haven’t yet this season) and/or make a financial donation if you are able. And of course, we welcome volunteers!
Here is what you can continue to look forward to:
- Grooming and maintenance of the Golf Course and North Street Trails by our intrepid and dedicated team of volunteer groomers, and access to skiing at all local areas.
- 60+ kids learning to ski through the Bill Koch League, with the guidance of Naima Green and 9 volunteer coaches. The program is at maximum capacity for 2022 and will be offered again in 2023 in partnership with Montpelier Rec.
- 2 clinics for novice/intermediate adults (free to members) with extraordinary coaches Brian Carlson and John Lazenby in late February and early March
- Trail updates on the ORN FB Page and website
- Community events, beginning with creating the colorful ice sculptures with Marni Leikin
As a friendly reminder here is a simple breakdown of where you can bring dogs:
- Dog friendly: Public Parks (Hubbard & North Branch Park). Please follow canine codes of conduct in each location.
- No dogs: All trails are maintained by ORN and schools (North St., Golf Course, U32, and MHS).
Thank you for respecting private lands and the work of volunteers!
Think snow!
